There exist many styles of input devices for fighting games. Fightstick is sometimes used as a generic term, however, it is inaccurate when describing controllers without joysticks.

- hitbox
- a registered trademark referring to a brand-name device
- gapless plate
- a keyswitch retention plate which is not suspended above the PCB, but rather is flush against it. The switch tabs are not able to "clip" into the plate. So called "fat plates" are examples of this. See deskthority:Switch mount

- Also known as stickless, all-button
- a controller without a joystick, often composed entirely of buttons in a panel
